Tamagotchi

Many will seek the favor of a generous man,
And every man is a friend to him who gives gifts.
All the brothers of a poor man hate him;
How much more do his friends abandon him!
He pursues them with words, but they are gone.
He who gets wisdom loves his own soul;
He who keeps understanding will find good.
Proverbs 19:6-8

Wisdom is hard to get,
Friends hard to forget,
Money is a chain that’s set
To trip those hard to beset.

But of all these three,
the one that I’d pick is pretty clear to me,
See, wisdom is more than a spree,
Not just a passing fad, Tamagotchi.

Friends will pat you on the back,
But wisdom squares shoulders gone slack,
Money won’t fill that hole, put the dirt back…
See, understanding makes up for all lack.

I’d rather see creditors coming
And hit them with only my loving
Than seek and search, condemning,
Until they turn and run, defending.

And I know that life is never really easy,
But that does not give me a reason
To treat you with less than respect and good season,
See it’s the light that shines, not rhyme or reason.
